COLOMBO (News 1st); Dilshan Wirasekara, Chairman of the Colombo Stock Exchange has emphasized that the country has moved beyond recovery and is now experiencing a period of robust growth.
"The Sri Lankan economy grew at 5.4% in the fourth quarter of 2024 and maintained over 5% growth for the entire year," Wirasekara stated.
"We are at a juncture that we've not seen many times before. It's quite important that the capital market plays its part in this whole process. I would call it a renaissance now, not just a recovery. It's about growth now."
This positive outlook comes as Sri Lanka continues to stabilize and strengthen its economy following years of turmoil and reform.
The capital market is expected to play a crucial role in sustaining this growth trajectory and supporting the country's economic ambitions.
