COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Ananda Wijepala, announced that detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) visited the Matara Magistrate's Court to submit a request for the confiscation of assets belonging to Deshabandu Tennakoon.
Coincidentally, Tennakoon surrendered to the court earlier this morning, and his appearance has been confirmed.
Yesterday (18), CID officers conducted an inspection of a residence owned by Tennakoon, located at No. 76/A/7, 7th Lane, Gangani Gardens, Hokandara.
During the inspection, they discovered 795 bottles of foreign liquor and 214 bottles of wine, totaling 1,009 bottles.
Additionally, the police seized a pistol, believed to be Tennakoon's firearm, and two Apple phones. The CID anticipates extracting a significant amount of information from these mobile devices.
Submissions regarding these discoveries will be presented to the court, and investigations are ongoing, said the Minister adding that these matters are being disclosed to the public due to the significant attention they have garnered.
