Sri Lanka Arrests 875 Military Deserters in Major Crackdown

COLOMBO (News 1st) – In a significant crackdown on military desertion, Sri Lanka's Ministry of Defence announced the arrest of 875 individuals who had unlawfully left the armed forces.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the arrests include 704 soldiers and two officers from the Army, 73 personnel from the Navy, and 100 individuals from the Air Force. 

The operation has been a collaborative effort between the Military Police and the regular police forces, ensuring that those who abandoned their posts are brought to justice.
