COLOMBO (News 1st); Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne has ordered the court registrar to immediately submit an investigation report regarding statements made by senior journalists Poddala Jayantha and Sanath Balasuriya on their Facebook accounts.
This order was issued following a written notification from the registrar concerning the matter.
Senior journalists Poddala Jayantha and Sanath Balasuriya had posted comments on Facebook regarding High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne, who is currently presiding over the infamous Krrish transaction case involving MP Namal Rajapaksa.
The registrar informed the judge that these posts were perceived as contempt of court.
In response, the registrar had requested appropriate orders from the High Court Judge.
Judge Manjula Thilakaratne had instructed the registrar to submit a report along with the relevant Facebook posts.
The judge emphasized the need for the report to be submitted without delay, after which appropriate orders will be issued.
Following abductions and assault during the tenure of Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, senior journalists Poddala Jayantha and Sanath Balasuriya have been residing abroad.
