Special Program to Alleviate Rural Poverty

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A special program to alleviate rural poverty will be launched in January 2025.

Minister of Rural Development, Social Security, and Community Empowerment, Upali Pannilage, said that plans are in place to implement the program across all districts.

He said that the initial steps will involve formulating a development plan for each village with the active participation of local residents.

The program will be carried out as a joint effort involving ministries, local government and provincial council institutions, as well as both private and public sectors.
