New Circular Bars Teachers In Western Province From Conducting Tuition For Students From Their Own Schools

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A circular has been issued preventing teachers at schools in the Western Province from conducting paid tuition classes to students from their respective schools, whether during school hours, after school, or on weekends and public holidays. 

The circular, signed by Secretary of Education for the Western Province, K.A.D.R. Nishanthi Jayasinghe was forwarded to the Director of Education, Regional Directors, Divisional Directors of Education, and all principals in the province.

The circular mandates that all teachers be informed of this.

The Secretary of Education emphasized that disciplinary action will be taken against teachers who violate these regulations.

This prohibition was first imposed in the Sabaragamuwa Province and later adopted by the Central Province as well.
