COLOMBO (News 1st): Special Gazette notifications have been issued setting maximum prices for imported and locally produced rice.
These notifications were issued under the signature of the Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority.
According to the Gazette extraordinary, the maximum retail price for one kilogram of imported white rice is set at Rs. 210.
The maximum retail price for one kilogram of imported Nadu rice is set at Rs. 220, as stated in the Gazette extraordinary.
The maximum retail price for one kilogram of imported samba rice is set at Rs. 230.
The relevant Gazette extraordinary adds that the maximum retail price regulations came into effect yesterday.
Meanwhile, another Gazette extraordinary has been issued setting maximum retail prices for several types of locally produced rice.
The maximum retail price for locally produced white or red raw rice is set at Rs. 220.
The wholesale price for it has been set at Rs. 215.
The maximum retail price for locally produced steamed or parboiled white or red nadu rice is set at Rs. 230.
The wholesale price for this is set at Rs. 225.
The maximum retail price for locally produced steamed or parboiled white or red raw rice is set at Rs. 240.
The maximum wholesale price for this rice is set at Rs. 235.
The maximum retail price for locally produced keeri samba rice is set at Rs. 260.
The wholesale price for this rice is set at Rs. 255.
According to these Gazette extraordinary notifications, it is prohibited to sell, supply, offer for sale, or display the rice at prices exceeding the specified maximum price.
