The President's Media Division has noted media reports regarding the reduction of security for former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The President's Office clarified that these reports are false.
According to the Presidents Entitlements Act No. 4 of 1986, the President's Office provides the following entitlements to former President Rajapaksa.
The statement emphasizes that the necessary security for former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is provided by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Public Security.
Currently, 180 police officers, including 29 police drivers, are assigned to his security detail, in addition to active-duty army and navy personnel.
