67 Arrested on Corruption Charges in Nine Months

COLOMBO (News 1st)l The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) reported the arrest of 67 individuals over the past nine months on charges related to bribery and corruption.

During this period, CIABOC conducted 81 raids and received a total of 3,045 complaints concerning bribery and corruption. 

These complaints included 259 related to bribery, 466 related to corruption, and 86 concerning the illicit acquisition of assets.

CIABOC also noted that 810 complaints were dismissed due to insufficient evidence or because they did not fall under the purview of the Bribery Act.
