COLOMBO (News 1st); The Meteorology Department has issued a weather advisory indicating that showers or thundershowers are expected at various times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, and Mannar districts.

Additionally, showers or thundershowers may occur in several other areas of the island during the evening or night. Fairly heavy showers, exceeding 50 mm, are anticipated in some locations within the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western, Uva, and Eastern provinces.

Strong winds, reaching speeds of approximately 40 km/h, are expected intermittently over the Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces, and in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.

The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
