Chilaw Murder Mystery: Post-Mortem Reveals Grisly Details

COLOMBO (News 1st); A post-mortem examination was conducted today on the bodies found in a burnt two-story house in the Singhapura area of Chilaw.

The examination revealed that the deceased woman and her daughter had their throats slit before their bodies were set on fire.

The post-mortem on the bodies of a woman and her daughter, was carried out by Specialist Judicial Medical Officer I.M. Ilangarathna Banda at the Chilaw General Hospital morgue.

Yesterday morning, a fire broke out in a house in the Singhapura area of Chilaw, where a mother, father, and daughter lived.

Their charred bodies were discovered at the scene.

The deceased were identified as members of the same family: the mother, father, and daughter.

During the post-mortem examination, it was found that the mother and daughter had sustained neck injuries consistent with slashing.

News 1st correspondent reported that the deaths were caused by severe blood loss, and the bodies were set on fire the following day, according to preliminary findings from the investigation.

The post-mortem examination of the father was still ongoing as of this afternoon.
