COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Public Administration has issued new guidelines for state employees returning from overseas leave.

According to the recent circular, if employees do not report back to work on their scheduled date after their leave ends, they will be considered as having left their position vacant.

The circular clarifies that if employees need to extend their overseas leave, they must obtain permission before their initial leave expires. Failure to resolve any issues with the extension in time means they must return to work as planned.

The Ministry also added that heads of state institutions who fail to enforce these new procedures will face disciplinary actions. This move aims to ensure better management and adherence to leave policies across all state institutions.
