Four Candidates Deposit Bonds for Presidential Polls

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Four candidates, including two independent candidates, have already deposited their bonds for the upcoming Presidential election.

The Election Commission said that among the candidates who have secured their places on the ballot by depositing bonds are independent candidates President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Sarath Keerthiratne.

Oshala Herath from the New Independent Front and A. S. P. Liyanage from the Sri Lanka Labour Party have also deposited bonds.

According to the NEC, candidates have until 12 pm on August 14.

Deposits can be made during business hours from 8:30 am to 4:15 pm at the same location.

For candidates affiliated with recognized political parties, the required amount is Rs. 50,000, while those from non-recognized parties must deposit Rs. 75,000.
