Ranil Advocates for Export Economy to Tackle Economic Crisis

COLOMBO(News 1st): Independent presidential candidate Ranil Wickremesinghe has emphasized the need for Sri Lanka to adopt an export-oriented economy to tackle the current economic crisis.

Speaking at a Bank and Finance Forum, Ranil Wickremesinghe stressed that strengthening the Rupee is crucial for progress. 

He said: "There is no alternative but to focus on boosting our exports and stabilizing our currency. The only way to advance the economy is through development. Any suggestions to the contrary are not viable."

He also highlighted that significant changes are required not just in the economy, but across various sectors. He called for immediate action and criticized traditional political approaches that often result in unfulfilled promises. 

According to Ranil Wickremesinghe, if the country cannot engage in serious discussions about its future, it will struggle to move forward. He urged for a collective effort to implement necessary reforms and ensure a better future for Sri Lanka.
