COLOMBO (News 1st); President's Counsel K A Parinda Ranasinghe, was appointed as Attorney General by President Ranil Wickremesinghe in terms of Article 61E (b) of the Constitution of Sri Lanka at the President's Office.
The announcement was made by the President's Media Division on Friday (12).
Earlier, the appointment of Ranasinghe was unanimously approved by the Constitutional Council, and it was conveyed to President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
On the 1st of July, President's Counsel, Parinda Ranasinghe took the oath of office as the Acting Attorney General.
Parinda Ranasingh assumed the role following the retirement of Sanjay Rajaratnam from the position of Attorney General on the 26th of June.
With an impressive 31-year career in legal service, Parinda Ranasinghe has held various key positions, including Senior State Counsel, Deputy Solicitor General, Additional Solicitor General, and Senior Additional Solicitor General.
Notably, Acting Attorney General Parinda Ranasinghe is the son of the late K. A. Parinda Ranasinghe, who served as the 38th Chief Justice of Sri Lanka, from 1988 to 1991
