Sanath Nishantha dies in fatal accident

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan State Minister Sanath Nishantha died early on Thursday (25) morning in a tragic car crash on the Katunayake Expressway.

Sri Lanka Police said that a Police Constable attached to the security detail of the State Minister died as well, while the driver sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the hospital.

According to an official statement from Sri Lanka Police the accident took place at 2 AM and the SUV in which the State Minister was travelling in crashed on to the rear end of a freight container truck heading to Colombo, resulting in the tragic accident.
