In a major crackdown on organized crime, Acting Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon announced the launch of island-wide operations this morning.
The operations will be carried out by officers from all police stations across the country and supported by the tri-forces.
These operations are specifically focused on individuals involved in drug trafficking, identified through prior intelligence gathering.
Acting IGP Tennakoon further highlighted the Western and Southern provinces as areas with a significant presence of organized crime gangs and drug activity.
This announcement follows yesterday's statement by Public Security Minister Tiran Alles.
