Value of missing paddy stocks estimated at over Rs.65 million

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Paddy Marketing Board said that the value of the paddy stock that went missing from the paddy warehouses in Kurunegala exceeds Rs.65 million.

Chairman Buddhika Iddamalgoda said the final report of the investigation regarding the missing paddy stocks will be submitted to the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries Mahinda Amaraweera on Thursday (02).

650,000kg of paddy was reported missing from the Nikaweratiya and Mahawa warehouses.

The Polgahawala paddy warehouse will be inspected on Tuesday (31).

Iddamalgoda said two officers who were in charge of the warehouses where the paddy stocks went missing have been suspended.

He added that two complaints were submitted to the Criminal Investigation Department regarding the incidents.
