COLOMBO (News 1st); The Disaster Management Center said that 98 people from 28 families living in three districts were affected by torrential rainfall experienced in recent days.
The most affected was the Kalutara District in the Western Province, said the DMC adding that 50 people from 15 families were inconvenienced.
It added that 26 houses were damaged in total due to inclement weather.
The Met Department said that Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North-western provinces.
Fairly heavy showers above 50mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle, Matara and Nuwara-eliya districts.
A few showers are likely in Anuradhapura district.
Fairly strong winds about 40-45 kmph can be expected at times in western slopes of the central hills, Western, Southern, North-western, Northern and North-central provinces.
On the apparent southward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during 28th of August to 07th of September in this year, it added.
