Colombo (News 1st); The National Water Supply and Drainage Board said that if the public comes across any change in the taste, smell, and colour of water obtained from the source below ground level, it is wise to test the water via an agency involved in water testing.
Arid weather conditions have already led to the drying up of water bodies and a drop in capacity at water sources located below ground level.
R. M. S. Ratnayake, the Deputy General Manager of the National Water Supply And Drainage Board, told News 1st that the public will be given the necessary advice after samples are provided.
He said that water samples can be tested via the laboratories located in Colombo, Puttlam, Anuradhapura and Jaffna.
He noted that salinity levels of water obtained from sources below ground level are likely to change when the amount of water in such sources drop.
