UNP says Presidential Election will be held by June 2024

COLOMBO (News 1st); The United National Party said a Presidential Election will be held by June 2024.

Speaking at the Colombo North Bala Mandala meeting of the UNP in Modara, UNP member Ravi Karunanayake said President Ranil Wickremesinghe of the UNP was able to run the government despite having only one seat in  Parliament.

He said broad alliances need to be formed, in order to build the country by conducting a Parliamentary Election.

Speaking at the meeting P Harrison said in other countries, the opposition extends their support to the government regarding national issues.

He said however the Sri Lankan opposition has been asking for elections, while the President is working to uplift the country.

Harrison said a Presidential Election will be held by June or July next year.
