Sirasa TV Wins Big: Sumathi Awards 2024

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sirasa TV emerged as a major winner at the 30th Sumathi Awards Ceremony, securing top honors across multiple categories.

Asoka Dias won the Sumathi Award for the best educational television program this year.

As the host of the morning show 'Pathikada,' broadcast on News1st, Sirasa TV, Asoka has engaged in discussing current issues with prominent experts on the subject. For the past five years, ‘Pathikada,’ has dedicated itself to intellectual dialogue, and is broadcast on News1st, Sirasa TV daily on weekdays at 6 in the morning.

The music program ‘Sajjayana’, produced by Sirasa TV and directed by Viraj Jayamanna, was awarded Best Music Program, recognizing its excellence in musical presentation and production.

In the individual awards category, Saranga Disasekara was voted Most Popular Actor of 2024 for his performance in the television drama ‘Aalawanthi’, which aired on Sirasa TV.

News 1st’s Randika Hettiarachchi won the award for Best Investigative News Report 2024 for his report titled Nodutu Sigiriya.

“Satana” produced by Samith Basnayake named Runner Up in the category of Best Political Program at the 30th Sumathi Awards Ceremony.
