Constitutional Council to convene on Thursday (25)

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Constitutional Council is scheduled to convene at 12.30 pm on Thursday (25).

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana said the Constitutional Council convened on Tuesday (23), adding that a final decision was not reached regarding the matters discussed.

The Speaker said the Election Commission has not been appointed thus far.

He added that Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that the Election Commission should not be changed, at a time an election has not been concluded.

The Speaker said all parties should be in agreement to appoint a commission.
