Sri Lanka increases Expressway toll

COLOMBO (News 1st); Expressway tolls have been increased, according to an extraordinary gazette notification issued with the signature of Minister of Transport and Highways Bandula Gunawardana.

The toll for a four-wheel vehicle to travel from Katunayake to Hambantota was increased from Rs. 1000/- to Rs. 1,300/-.

The toll for a six-wheel vehicles to travel from Katunayake to Hambantota was increased from Rs. 1,900/- to Rs. 2,350/-

Heavy vehicles with over 6 wheels will now pay an increased toll of Rs. 3,950/- up from Rs. 3,150/-.

The toll on the Central Expressway from Mirigama to Kurunegala for a four-wheel vehicle was increased from Rs. 250/- to Rs. 300/-.

The toll for a six-wheel vehicle for the same road section was increased to Rs. 450/- from Rs. 350/-.

Heavy vehicles with over 6 wheels will now pay an increased toll of Rs. 700/- up from Rs. 550/- to travel on the Central Expressway from Mirigama to Kurunegala.

A four-wheel vehicle will now pay Rs. 400/- to travel from Peliyagoda to Katunayake. The previous toll was Rs. 300/-.

A six-wheel vehicle will pay Rs. 450/- for the same section, an increase from Rs. 550/-.

Heavy vehicles with over six-wheels will pay Rs. 750/- to use the same section of road, up from Rs. 600/-.
