COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya said a hunger strike will be launched on Monday (27) against attempts to privatize the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
Chairman of the Sri Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya Jagath Wijegunaratne said they requested a discussion with the President and relevant officials adding that they have not received a favorable response.
He said attempts to privatize the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation are an act of treason.
Meanwhile, professionals expressed their displeasure over the lack of a favorable response from the government to their demands.
The spokesperson of the Government Medical Officer's Association (GMOA) Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe said professionals will meet and discuss the further steps to be taken in this regard.
