Body of Missing Child Found in Thirukkovil

COLOMBO (News 1st); The body of a child was found this morning after three people went missing following a drowning incident in the Sangaman Kanda Sea in Thirukkovil last night.

According to the Police, the body of a 17-year-old was discovered washed ashore in Thirukkovil.

Two children were reported missing after drowning in the Sangaman Kanda Sea. Later, an individual who attempted to rescue the two children was also reported missing. He was identified as a 38-year-old man from Sangaman Kanda.

Search operations are underway to locate the missing man and another 15-year-old child. 

The rescue operations are being carried out jointly by the Navy, Police, and area residents.

Meanwhile, a foreign national has drowned in Hikkaduwa.

The individual, identified as a 57-year-old Indian, was rescued by residents in the area but succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the hospital.
