Student leaders Wasantha Mudalige, Ven. Siridhamma Thero granted bail

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Student activists Wasantha Mudalige, and Venerable Galwewa Siridhamma Thero were released on bail by the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court on Tuesday (6).

Wasantha Mudalige is the convener of the Inter-University Student's Federation, and Venerable Galwewa Siridhamma Thero is the convener of the Inter-University Bhikku Federation.

The Magistrate ordered for them to be released on two personal bails of Rs. 100,000/- each, per suspect.

The Convener of the Inter Univesity Student's Federation Wasantha Mudalige, and Convener of the Inter University Bhikku Federation Venerable Galwewa Siridhamma Thero were detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act for 90-days and were later remanded by the court.

Venerable Galwewa Siridhamma Thero was produced in an identification parade on Tuesday (6), however, the police officers failed to positively identify him.

President's Counsel Saliya Peiris led a group of attorneys to represent Wasantha Mudalige, and Venerable Galwewa Siridhamma Thero.

Wasantha Mudalige will remain in remand custody until the 12th of December, pending a separate legal matter.
