LG Elections: Bonds Submitted for Five Districts

COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Election Commission announced that three recognized political parties and 19 independent groups have submitted their bond deposits for the upcoming local government elections.

Deposits have been made for the districts of Kandy, Colombo, Gampaha, Ratnapura, and Ampara. 

The process of accepting deposits for the local government elections began on Monday, 3rd March, and will continue until March 19.

However, the Election Commission has stated that deposits will not be accepted on the 8th, 9th, 13th, 15th, and 16th of this month.

The submission of nominations will commence on the 17th of this month.

The National Election Commission announced that the deadline for submitting applications for postal voting in the local government elections is midnight on the 12th of this month.

The Commission has urged eligible voters to submit their completed applications to the respective district election offices before the deadline.

The Commission has also clarified that the deadline for submitting postal voting applications will not be extended under any circumstances.
