Sri Lankan hospitals running out of X-Ray films

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Accident & Orthopaedic Service (AOS) of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka is the Level 1 Trauma Care Centre in Sri Lanka.

Health sector trade unions point out that the AOS of the Colombo National Hospital is in crisis.

S. B. Mediwatte is the General Secretary of the All Ceylon Nurses' Union and he said that the National Hospital is already short of X-Ray films to conduct important tests.

"Due to the inability to purchase X-Ray films, a new computerized system was introduced. That system also failed," he revealed.

The Outpatient Department or the OPD of the National Hospital is also facing a crisis.

The Government Medical Officers Association said the entire Government Hospital System is affected by this crisis.
