Court orders release of Mahanama Thero on bail

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo Fort Magistrate today granted bail to Koswatte Mahanama Thero, who was remanded for violating court orders and staging a protest.

The Thero was released on a surety worth Rs. 100,000.

On July 28th, Fort Police arrested Mahanama Thero and Trade Union Leader Joseph Stalin on charges of holding a demonstration despite court orders.

Mahanama Thero was remanded until today after being produced before the Magistrate yesterday, while Stalin was remanded until 12th August.
