COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo Chief Magistrate on Friday (21) ordered the release of suspects in 11 cases filed without the proper approvals of the three commissioners of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
Accordingly, Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala ordered to release of Former State Printing Corporation (SPC) Chairman Jayampathi Bandara Heenkenda from 10 cases filed against him on charges of misappropriation of funds.
In addition, the Colombo Chief Magistrate also ordered to release of three suspects including the Assistant Director (Tangalle) of the Ministry of Fisheries from the case filed over the misappropriation of Rs. 5.3 Million to provide housing for low-income earning fisher families.
The suspects were released after the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption informed the court that all these cases will be withdrawn.
