COLOMBO (News 1st); Mahinda Samarasinghe assumed duties as Sri Lanka’s ambassador to the United States, Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday (2).
The former minister has served as an MP for 27 years, representing the people of Kalutara district and Sri Lanka.
In his illustrious political career, he served as a cabinet minister for over 19 years and a further six years as a Provincial Minister.
Having graduated from La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia- he started his career as an economist, eventually serving as a diplomat prior to entering politics.
