COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka on Monday (25) re-opened schools for primary students after almost five months.
The Education Ministry said students are permitted to attend school in a suitable attire from Monday (25).
Education Secretary Professor Kapila Perera said this decision was reached as many students were not able to source school material and uniforms given the present situation in the country, and what is most important is that students attend school.
Sri Lanka's health sector has called on education authorities and parents to ensure that all necessary health guidelines are followed.
Director-General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena told News 1st that parents must refrain from sending their children to school if they are ill or have a fever.
