COLOMBO (News 1st); The Samagi Jana Banavegaya filed a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption on Thursday (7) seeking an investigation on all those who assisted Former Minister Nirupama Rajapaksa and her husband to amass wealth, as exposed by the #PandoraPapers.

The SJB in the complaint seeks an expose' on all politicians, government officers, businessmen, and other stakeholders who assisted them.

The Samagi Jana Balavegaya calls for details on the time period of amassing wealth, tax evasion and money laundering to be made public.

'We suspect the recent Finance Act, that legalizes undisclosed assets was moved to pave the way to legalize the assets exposed by the Pandora Papers,' said MP Ashok Abeysinghe.

The SJB has also raised concerns on justice from the investigations, citing that the powers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption were vested with the President following the passage of the 20th to the Constitution, and the fact the President is calling for a probe on his own relative.
