G. C. E. A/L & Grade 5 Scholarship exams, postponed

COLOMBO (News 1st); The G. C. E. Advanced Level & Grade 5 Scholarship examinations which were scheduled for November 2021, will be rescheduled, announced Susil Premajayantha, the State Minister of Education Reforms, Open Universities, and Distance Learning Promotion.

He told Parliament on Thursday (7) that the examinations were scheduled for November, however, the authorities did not expect the schools to remain closed for a long period due to COVID-19, therefore, the examinations have to be re-scheduled.

He said the new examination dates will be announced later by taking into consideration the fact that the syllabus needs to be covered and children need to be given adequate time to prepare for the examinations.

Premajayatha said the rescheduled examinations will most likely be held in early 2022.

He also added that schools will re-open in four phases, subject to adherence to health guidelines.
