Amaraweera Vice Chair of 4th Environment Ministers Forum

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Minister of Environment, Mahinda Amaraweera has been appointed as the Vice Chair of the 4th Session of the Environment Ministers Forum of the Asia Pacific Member States of the United Nations Environment Program. The Environment Ministry announced that Minister Amaraweera was appointed as that at the session of Ministers held in Suwon City, Korea today (07). Environmental Ministers and Environmental Authorities from 47 countries in the Asia-Pacific region will be represented at the conference. The Forum is organized jointly by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and will serve as a platform for Member States and other stakeholders to contribute regional perspectives to the resumed UNEA Special Session to mark UNEP's 50th anniversary, both taking place in 2022. The theme of the fourth session of the forum is 'Strengthening Actions for Nature to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals'.
