Grenade at hospital: Suspect being interrogated

COLOMBO (News 1st): Police say that the youth arrested in connection with the discovery of a hand grenade at a private hospital in Narahenpita is currently being detained and interrogated.

Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa stated that the arrested 26-year-old suspect has been identified as a resident of Uppuveli, Trincomalee.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect, who is a resident of the same area, had removed the safety clip of the hand grenade and attached it to a mosquito coil.

Police stated that the suspect had taken the bomb to the hospital with the intention of tipping off authorities in order to receive a reward.
