Police strict on cops who breach standards of professional behaviour

COLOMBO (News 1st); Strict disciplinary action will be taken against Police Officers who breach the standards of professional behaviour, as well as their supervising officers, ordered Public Security Minister Rear Admiral (Retd) Dr. Sarath Weerasekara.

Police Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said several instances of police officers breaching the standards of professional behaviour were reported in recent days.

The subject minister had ordered for investigators to pay special attention to the incidents where a girl-child was abused at the Neluwa Police Station, stealing fuel from Police buses and looting an illegal gambling den in Warakapola.

The Police Spokesperson said the officers responsible for those offenses were interdicted.
