COLOMBO (News 1st); The individual responsible for shooting the dead crime boss 'Ganemulle Sanjeewa', has revealed that the firearm used in the assassination at the Hultsdorf Court Complex in Colombo was handed to him by a female suspect at a lodging in Kaduwela.
SSP Buddhika Manatunga, the Police Spokesperson, stated that the suspect had inspected the firearm at the location.
Reports indicate that the female suspect and the detained individual had stayed at the Kaduwela lodging the day before the murder.
Following the assassination of Ganemulle Sanjeewa, the suspects traveled to Nugegoda in a hired vehicle and purchased clothing from a well-known apparel store.
The female suspect, who is currently at large, met with the detained suspect in Nugegoda, and both traveled to Negombo via the expressway in a hired vehicle.
Investigations have revealed that the suspect later boarded a van heading to Kalpitiya with the intention of fleeing to India.
Police investigations have uncovered that the female suspect fled from Negombo in a three-wheeler.
Further information has revealed that the suspects had stayed at two lodgings in Divulapitiya and Negombo a few days prior to the murder.
Police stated that Ganemulle Sanjeewa was murdered under a contract worth 15 million rupees, of which 200,000 rupees had been deposited into the suspect's account. The remaining amount was agreed to be paid in India.
The Colombo Crime Division is conducting investigations to apprehend the fugitive female suspect.
Ganemulle Sanjeewa was shot and killed at the Hultsdorf Court Complex No. 05 on Wednesday (19).
