SLSI to introduce standards for organic & compost fertilizers

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Sri Lanka Standards Institute (SLSI) has taken measures to prepare a proper standard for organic and compost fertilizers. There is a requirement for proper standards to be introduced when adding components such as Phosphorus and Potassium to manufacture Organic fertilizers, Dr. Nihal Jayathilake, the SLSI Chairman told News 1st. At present, both organic and compost fertilizers are being manufactured by large-scale businessmen and farmers. The Sri Lanka Standards Institute (SLSI) is currently in the process of preparing proper standards to facilitate the manufacturing of organic and compost fertilizers in the country.
