COLOMBO (News 1st): The Colpetty Police on Wednesday (Jun. 09) arrested nine people including two foreign nationals for hosting a pool party at a luxury apartment complex in Colpetty in violation of the quarantine rules and regulations, Sri Lanka Police said.
Upon receiving information about a pool party conducted at an apartment complex, a special team of the Colpetty Police had rushed to the scene and apprehended those involved in the incident, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana told News 1st on Thursday (Jun. 10).
"The suspects were brought to the Colpetty Police Station and they will be produced before the Fort Magistrate's Court today (10). As per the Health Guidelines published by the Director-General of Health Services on the 12th of May 2021, parties and public gatherings are prohibited. Therefore, the suspects have violated the quarantine rules and regulations," the Deputy Police Chief elaborated.
Further investigations are conducted by the Colpetty Police.
Officers in charge of police stations have been instructed to conduct operations in connection with parties and public gatherings; Special Police Teams have been deployed to conduct inspections with regard to such offences, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana noted.
