COLOMBO (News 1st): Parliamentary sessions will commence today (Apr. 20) and continue until Friday (Apr. 23).
The decision to commence parliamentary sessions was taken at the meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs held on Monday (Apr. 19), under the patronage of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, with the participation of party leaders.
In the meantime, four (04) institutions have been summoned before the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) and the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) for investigations.
The Football Federation of Sri Lanka has been summoned before the COPE on Thursday (Apr. 22) and the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka on Friday (Apr. 23), Dhammika Dasanayake, the Secretary-General of Parliament told News 1st.
The Department of Wildlife Conservation will once again be summoned before the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) on Wednesday (Apr. 21) to discuss the conservation of the Muthurajawela Wetland Sanctuary.
The Inland Revenue Department will be summoned again on Thursday (Apr. 23) pertaining to the inquiry into the tax relief fines that are yet to be recovered.
