Colombo (News 1st); Eggs were thrown at the convoy of a ruling party Member of Parliament on Thursday (07) as crowds jeered him off a meeting in Padukka.

The incident took place after a confrontation at the Padukka Divisional Secretariat where the Padukka Development Committee met for a discussion. "Do not try to tell me how to do my job," said the MP at the meeting, which immediately triggered a protest from Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Pradeshiya Sabha members who were present at the time. Speaking to reporters after he was escorted out of the premises, the MP said the President appointed him as Chair of the Development Committee as the locals had complained that development was not properly taking place. However, the Deputy Chair of the Committee, also from the SLPP, said the MP was operating in an ad-hoc manner and takeS a decision without consulting the other members of the committee.
