Rs. 1000 Essential Food item pack through Sathosa: Minister

COLOMBO (News 1st): The government hopes to launch a programme to provide 10 essential items at a concessionary price of Rs. 1000 through Sathosa outlets, in line with the upcoming festive season, the Ministry of Trade said. "The essential item pack including rice, flour, sugar, dhal, and sprats will be provided through Sathosa outlets at a concessionary price of Rs. 1000 starting from 1st April 2021," Dr. Bandula Gunawardana, the Minister of Trade told News 1st on Monday (Mar. 22). Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardana further pointed out that Sathosa outlets are actively engaged in the distribution process of 27 essential items, to avoid any form of shortage in the local market.
