COLOMBO (News 1st): The post-mortem examination in respect of the charred remains of a businessman discovered inside a burnt car near Asiri Mawatha in Kohuwala on Wednesday night (Mar. 10), will be conducted today (Mar. 11).
According to Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana, Police that rushed to the scene found a charred body inside the burnt vehicle at around 11:30 pm last night (10).
Based on preliminary investigations, the victim was identified as a 33-year-old businessman, who was residing down Bhathiya Mawatha in Kalubowila.
According to the Deputy Police Chief, information has come to light that the victim had travelled in his vehicle to get dinner.
"Sri Lanka Police will report facts to the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court today (Mar. 11), and the magisterial inquest in respect of the body is set to be conducted. The post mortem examination will be conducted thereafter," DIG Ajith Rohana noted.
According to the Deputy Police Chief, Police are seeking support from the Government Analyst's Department and the other experts in the field to ascertain the cause of the fire.
Further investigations are being conducted by Kohuwala Police.
