COLOMBO (News 1st): Operations at the Galgamuwa Base Hospital, which was modernized with the assistance of JICA, have been hampered due to the shortage of hospital staff including doctors and nurses.
The Galgamuwa Base Hospital has been developed with modern facilities including operating theatres, Dr. Asela Gunawardena, the Director-General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Thursday (Mar. 11).
However, the expected objectives are not met, given the lack of trained doctors and nurses assigned to the hospital, in order to maximize the benefits of the available facilities and provide better services to the general public, Dr. Asela Gunawardena pointed out.
Accordingly, steps will be taken to assign the necessary medical teams and nurses to the hospital as soon as possible, the Director-General of Health Services further emphasized.
