COLOMBO (News 1st): The power failure experienced in the Northern and North Central Provinces on Monday (Mar. 08), is not an act of sabotage, the Ministry of Power said on Tuesday (Mar. 09).
Thereby, the Minister re-affirmed it was caused due to a technical fault.
The power supply in the Northern and North Central Provinces that was disrupted on Monday night (08), was restored.
The supply of power to the entire Northern and North-Central provinces was interrupted at around 7:00 pm on Monday (Mar. 08), following a technical issue at the Anuradhapura New Grid Sub-station.
According to Sulakshana Jayawardena, the Spokesperson at the Ministry of Power, several other areas that receive electricity from the Valachchenai, Habarana, Polonnaruwa, and Vavuniya Grid Sub-Stations too experienced power-cut.
