Government allocates Rs. 35 Mn for the development of temples in the Northern Province

COLOMBO (News1st): The Government has allocated Rs. 35 Mn for the development of temples in the Northern Province. The development of 35 temples will be carried in line with the Vesak festival this year, Secretary to the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Cultural and Religious Affairs Prof. Kapila Gunawardena said. Rs. 10 Mn has been allocated to develop the Nagadeepa Rajamaha Viharaya in Jaffna alone and the state Vesak festival will be held this year as per the instructions of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse, Prof. Kapila Gunawardena further said. Rs. 22 Mn have been allocated to develop Dhamma schools in the Northern Province, he further noted.
