COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka recorded its highest number of daily COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday (Feb. 17), with 13 fatalities confirmed by the Director-General of Health Services. Thereby, the COVID-19 death toll in the country now stands at 422. The details of the deceased are as follows: 01. A 46-year-old female from Nuwara Eliya. She died on 11.02.2021 on admission to the Nuwara Eliya District Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid-19 infection and kidney disease. 02. A 65-year-old male from Agarapathana. He died on 12.02.2021 after being transferred from the Agarapathana Hospital to the Nuwara Eliya District Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as acute Asthma with COVID-19 infection and diabetes. 03. An 86-year-old male from Peliyagoda. He died on 16.02.2021 while receiving treatment at the Colombo General Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, heart condition and kidney disease. 04. An 83-year-old male from Bombuwala. He died on 05.02.2021 at his residence. The cause of death is mentioned as pneumonia and high-blood pressure with COVID-19 infection. 05. A 76-year-old male from Kalutara. He died on 05.02.2021 at his residence. The cause of death is mentioned as acute asthma, COVID-19 infection and lung cancer. 06. A 69-year-old male from Naboda. He died on 10.02.2021 at his residence. The cause of death is mentioned as blood poisoning, COVID-19 infection and acute diabetes. 07. A 63-year-old male from Maggona. He died on 05.02.2021 at his residence. The cause of death is mentioned as heart condition with COVID-19 infection and high-blood pressure. 08. An 81-year-old male from Kalutara-North. He died on 07.02.2021 at his residence. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and high-blood pressure. 09. A 72-year-old male from Kalutara-North. He died on 05.02.2021 at his residence. The cause of death is mentioned as blood poisoning with COVID-19 infection and heart condition. 10. A 69-year-old male from Gampola. He died on 15.02.2021 while receiving treatment at the Gampola Base Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID-19 infection, lung infection and high-blood pressure. 11. A 74-year-old male from Panadura. He was transferred from the Colombo General Hospital to the Mulleriyawa Base Hospital, where he passed away on 17.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, blood poisoning and lung cancer. 12. An 82-year-old male from We-uda. He was transferred from a private hospital in Kandy to the Theldeniya Base Hospital, where he passed away on 03.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and acute kidney damage. 13. An 82-year-old male from Nugegoda. He was transferred from the Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital to the Minuwangoda Base Hospital, where he passed away on 17.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as heart condition with COVID-19 infection and kidney disease. Meanwhile, another 713 new positive cases were confirmed in the country on Wednesday (17), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 caseload to 77,906. As of Thursday (Feb. 18), there are 6321 active COVID-19 patients receiving treatment, while 71,176 have recovered, according to the Epidemiology Unit at the Ministry of Health.
