(VIDEO) Army braves gale winds & thick fog in search for Dinura

Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka Army Search and Rescue personnel braved gale winds and thick fog to continue their search for Sirasa TV's Dinura Wijesundara who has been missing for three days following an excursion to Mini World’s End in Madolsima on Sunday (07).

Search and Rescue personnel are yet to locate Wijesundera a 35-year-old resident from Maggona, Kalutara, who was part of a 12-person team including 06 doctors who took part in an excursion to Mini World’s End on Saturday (06). It was reported the team had decided to spend the night at Mini World’s End on Saturday (06), however, had decided to return to their vehicles at 03 AM on Sunday (07) due to heavy rain and gale winds. It was only then the team had discovered that Dinura Wijesundera was not with them. Sri Lanka Police and Sri Lanka Army launched a search and rescue operation assuming he had slipped and fallen down, however, the operation did not result in the discovery of Dinura Wijesundera due to heavy mist. On Monday (09), search and rescue personnel launched an operation inside the jungles via the Kotagama Grama Niladhari Division in Bibila. This team comprised of 36 soldiers from the Sri Lanka Army. Emergency vehicles were placed on standby, said the Kotagama Grama Niladhari Officer adding the option of airlifting Dinura Wijesundera was not ruled out.
